Introduction

This policy explains how LA Peripherals Ltd (“we”, “us”, “our”) collects, uses and stores personal data when you visit our website, ask for a quote or apply for a trade account.

We’re the data controller for the information collected through this website. That means we decide how and why it’s used.

LA Peripherals Ltd is owned by La Peripherals Group Holdings Ltd (No. 14785566), which also owns our sister company LA Recycling Limited (No. 11640805). LA Recycling is a separate company with its own website at larecycling.co.uk and its own privacy policy. If you ask us about IT asset disposal, recycling or data destruction, we may pass your enquiry to LA Recycling so its team can reply.

What personal data we collect

We collect and process these categories of personal data:

  • Identity data: your name and the name of the company you work for
  • Contact data: email address, telephone number and country
  • Enquiry data: your business type, the products or part numbers you ask about, quantities, whether you want new or refurbished stock, your message and the page you sent the form from
  • Trade account data: your VAT number if you give it, the brands you’re interested in and your typical monthly volume
  • Order data: if you go on to buy from us, delivery addresses, order history and invoices
  • Communications data: records of emails and calls between you and our sales team
  • Technical data: IP address, browser and device type and the pages you visit, collected automatically when you use the website

We don’t take payments on this website and you can’t create an account on it.

How we collect your data

We collect personal data directly from you when you:

  • send us a form on our website, such as a quote request or trade account application
  • email or call our sales team
  • place an order with us

You don’t have to give us any of this, but we can’t reply to an enquiry or prepare a quote without your contact details.

Our website also collects technical data automatically. Some of it keeps the site secure. Any visitor statistics we collect come from Fathom Analytics, which doesn’t use cookies.

How we use your data and our lawful basis

Under UK data protection law, we need a lawful basis for each use of your personal data. These are the ones we rely on:

(a) Contract: to answer the quote request or trade account application you’ve sent us, and to supply, deliver and invoice any order you place.

(b) Legitimate interests: to reply to business enquiries, follow up trade account applications, keep records of our dealings with customers, tell trade customers about stock and pricing, keep our website secure and count visits anonymously so we can improve it. We’ve weighed these interests against your rights and don’t believe this use harms you.

(c) Legal obligation: to keep the financial and tax records the law requires.

We don’t use your personal data for automated decision making and we never sell it.

Stock and pricing updates

This website doesn’t run a newsletter and none of its forms signs you up to a mailing list. If you open a trade account or become a customer, our sales team may email you about stock and pricing relevant to your business. You can ask us to stop at any time by replying to one of those emails or emailing sales@lapltd.co.uk.

Who we share your data with

We share personal data only with the organisations that help us run our website, reply to you and fulfil your orders. Where one of them handles data on our behalf, it acts on our instructions and must keep your data safe. They include:

  • SiteGround, which hosts our website and stores the forms you send us
  • Cloudflare, where one of our forms shows its Turnstile check. Turnstile uses your IP address and browser details to confirm a person sent the form and not a bot.
  • Fathom Analytics, for anonymous visitor statistics without cookies. It briefly uses your IP address and browser details to count a visit and doesn’t store them for longer than 24 hours. Visits from the UK and EU are handled on its servers in the EU.
  • our email providers, which deliver form submissions to our sales team and hold our email
  • KK Digital, the agency that built our website and looks after it
  • DPD and FedEx, who deliver orders
  • our bank, card payment provider and accountants, when you order and pay
  • LA Recycling Limited, our sister company, when your enquiry is about a service it provides

The law may also require us to share data, for example with HMRC.

International transfers

Some of these providers, including Cloudflare and Fathom Analytics, may process data outside the UK. When that happens, the transfer is covered by UK adequacy regulations or by the International Data Transfer Agreement and equivalent clauses approved under UK law.

Cookies

Our website doesn’t use advertising, marketing or analytics cookies, so you won’t see a cookie banner. The few cookies it can set keep the site secure or let our own staff log in. Our Cookie Policy lists them and explains how our visitor statistics work.

Other websites

Our website links to eBay, Amazon, LinkedIn and LA Recycling. Each has its own privacy policy and we’re not responsible for how they use your data. If you buy from our eBay or Amazon stores, the marketplace handles your order under its policy as well as ours.

Data retention

We keep personal data only for as long as we need it. This is how we decide:

Data type How long we keep it
Enquiries and trade applications that don’t lead to an order For as long as we need them to answer you and deal with any follow-up
Customer records and correspondence While you’re a customer, then for as long as we need them for warranty claims, questions about past orders and any legal claims
Financial and invoice records For as long as tax and company law require, which is normally 6 years after the end of the financial year
Form submissions saved on the website As a backup in case an email doesn’t reach us, and for no longer than the enquiry they belong to
Website statistics (Fathom Analytics) IP address and browser details: no longer than 24 hours. The totals that remain are anonymous, so we keep them for as long as they’re useful

When we no longer need personal data, we delete it securely or anonymise it.

Your data protection rights

Under UK GDPR, you have the right to:

  • Access: ask for a copy of the personal data we hold about you
  • Rectification: ask us to correct data that’s wrong or incomplete
  • Erasure: ask us to delete your data where we don’t need to keep it by law
  • Restriction: ask us to limit how we use your data
  • Objection: object to our use of your data based on legitimate interests or for marketing
  • Portability: ask for your data in a format you can pass to another organisation

To use any of these rights, email sales@lapltd.co.uk or write to us at the registered office address at the top of this page. We’ll reply within one calendar month.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy when our website, services or legal duties change. The date at the top of this page always shows the latest version.
